On 9-13 September, one of the most important conferences on corrosion in the world was held in Kraków – Eurocorr. Over 1,000 experts came to Poland from countries of Europe and the world.

Eurocorr is one of the most important industry events on corrosion, attracting participants from the world every year. The conferences organised by the European European Federation of Corrosion, every year in a different member country, in cooperation with its national association. In this year, Poland was selected the host, with Polskie Stowarzyszenie Korozyjne (Polish Corrosion Society). Instytut Badawczy Dróg i Mostów provided additional scientific support.

The event was held in Kraków, in the modern Centrum Kongresowe ICE. The motto of the Eurocorr 2018 conference was Applied Science with Constant Awareness. The participants included guests from 25 countries of Europe, as well as representatives of the industry from outside of Europe. Special conditions were arranged for young scientists and students; the organisers wanted to encourage them to participate, at the same time creating opportunities for making contacts between them and their prospective employers.

A number of lectures were given within the conference in a variety of subjects, including corrosion by hot gases and combustion products, nuclear corrosion, marine corrosion, microbial corrosion, corrosion of steel in concrete, corrosion of polymer materials, corrosion in oil and gas production, corrosion in the refinery industry, automotive corrosion, corrosion reliability of electronics, corrosion of archaeological and historical artefacts.
